The reveal trailer for Insomniac Games’ newest side-scrolling adventure game: Song of the Deep has been officially released and is set to be within your favourite game stores on the summer of 2016!

First thing’s first, let’s talk about the trailer: They did pitch out the overview of the game’s plot which made it convenient for some. Although in a way a factor of it was “spoiled”, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be packed with surprises and twists. Truth of the matter is that side scrolling adventure games heavily rely on a good story line. It is one of the biggest factors for the genre’s popularity and longevity and this one is no exception.

You play the game as a young girl named Merryn, as she waits for her father to return from a fishing voyage. Unfortunately, her father never returned. She has a dream, in which her father is trapped under the ocean (I mean seriously, it sounds disturbing). Determined to save her father, she creates a submarine from junk and spare parts and voyages into the deep to rescue him.

It’s good to know that the Song of the Deep adventure is still shrouded in mystery, one thing’s for sure: You’ll be exploring a magnificent world full of fantastic creatures and surreal underwater landscapes, discovering lost ruins and ancient civilizations while upgrading your submarine along the way to dive deeper into the abyss.  Sounds exciting? For the adventurous players out there, it should be!

You can pre-order Song of the Deep on Gamestop now, it’s priced at $14.99 and is available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC! Don’t forget to check out Insomniac Game’s official website for the latest updates!
