Formerly known as Sony Online Entertainment, Daybreak Game Company has announced that they are going to release DC Universe Online on the Xbox One in Spring 2016. This is a first for the company, who has only been releasing their games on the PC, PS3 and PS4 until now.

The free-to-play game officially turned five on the 11th, and it should be noted that that isn’t a feat many massively multiplayer online games are able to accomplish.

In DC Universe Online, players dress up their avatars and get to fight side-by-side with numerous beloved characters from the DC franchise. Choose factions, pick out a power and ponder over character stats in this immersive DC title.  Up until this year, DCUO has only been available to PC, PS3 and PS4 players. Sadly, players probably won’t able to carry over their characters from other platforms, but it’s always nice to start fresh!

Additionally, PC and PlayStation 4 DCUO players will be able to do sessions together because we’ll be getting a cross-play feature around January 25. There will also be a slew of new content throughout the year. Goodies worth mentioning are style and gear unlocking, and the new characters coming to the game in Episode 21 next month, some of whom include Hawkgirl and Hawkman.

We are also getting more storylines: a new Superman plotline, the finale of Halls of Power, one centred on fan-favorite Harley Quinn and a conclusion to the Amazon Fury saga. Players are also getting a Daybreak emblem and a brand new DC Bombshell poster perfect for base or league hall decorating as anniversary gifts for logging in on January 31st.

It’s pretty impressive how committed DC is to keeping this game up and running, as the same can’t be said for a whole lot of other popular MMORPGs which fade away as interest is lost. The developers are still active and hard at work to provide loyal players with new content time and time again, so it doesn’t look like this game will be shutting down anytime soon.
