From the ballrooms of Las Vegas to the 12,000-seater Event Center of Mandalay Bay, The Evolution Championship Series (EVO) is definitely taking competitive gaming to a whole new level. Now on its 14th year, Evo co-founder Joey Cuellar A.K.A “Mr. Wizard” finally announced this year’s line-up of games which will be played competitively during the event.

First on the list we have Street Fighter V who will be spearheading the event with its debut on Evo along with another awesome game: Smash Bros. Melee. Other fighting games include: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Killer Instinct, Pokken (which came in unexpectedly and took a lot of players and audience by surprise), Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Tekken 7: Fated Retribution.

With all these games on the spotlight for 2016’s Evo, there’s no telling what kind of virtual storm they will bring to the halls of Las Vegas. But one thing’s for sure; it’s going to be one heck of a tournament!

You know, as a huge fan of fighting games I still can’t get over the fact that the genre is getting a lot of recognition nowadays. eSports as a whole has finally landed in the gates of mainstream industry. I think it’s safe to say that this is just the beginning of video game revolution and there’s no stopping it!

EVO 2016 will be taking place from July 15th to July 17th at the Las Vegas Convention Center while the finals will be held at the Mandalay Bay Sports Arena.
