2017’s 12 Most Anticipated New Albums
While 2017 has some hotly-anticipated films coming out, the music industry has plenty of music to get hyped about as well. Be sure you mark these upcoming albums on your to-buy list.
Fleet Foxes has not released a new album in six years, but the beloved indy music group will make fans happy by releasing a new album called Crack-Up on June 16. Frontman Robin Pecknold shared a lyric video as the official announcement. The video is for a nearly nine-minute song called “Third of May / Ōdaigahara.” The track takes its name from a mountain in Japan’s Daikō Mountain Range. Pecknold wrote all 11 tracks on the new album.
Nelly Furtado’s sixth album, The Ride, drops in March 2017. The album is the comeback to 2012’s impressive The Spirit Indestructible. Of the new album and its title track, Pipe Dreams, Furtado said: “A lot of [The Ride] touches on that, in terms of sanity versus reality. The comedown, the hangover after the rush, and how you put the pieces back together, and how you make amends with the realer parts of life.”
