Depicting the eerie underwater city of Rapture, the sky-high city of Columbia, and the lighthouse that has made an appearance in all three games in the series the box art for the Bioshock Collection has supposedly been leaked by Gamerating Taiwan. Other than that, info has been few and far between.
Introducing an atmospheric underwater world unlike no other, the first Bioshock was released in 2007. It was followed by Bioshock 2 in 2010 and Bioshock Infinite in 2013. The Bioshock Collection will most likely be made for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC.
Will the 2K games Bioshock, Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite be remastered? Compare them to the Uncharted series, which got a remastered collection instead of straight ports for the PlayStation 4 in Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection even if the older “vanilla” games were already up on PlayStation Now. The Bioshock games are available on PlayStation now, too, so the Bioshock collection being remastered doesn’t seem entirely impossible.
As long as the remastering is done artfully with noticeable changes so that the games feel and look updated and the price is as good as the Uncharted Collection, the Bioshock Collection would definitely be a steal both for first-time players and people who have plunged into Rapture or scaled Columbia in the past. Withstanding the test of time, the environments in Bioshock are already gorgeous as is but they’d be even more eye-poppingly so in a remastered version at 60fps for the newer consoles.
Again, none of this has been confirmed so take everything with a grain of salt.
