Tom Clancy’s the Division Open Beta Update
Ubisoft’s upcoming third-person, cover-based shooter Tom Clancy’s The Division has recently opened its doors to the gaming public for open beta sign-ups.
The open beta for The Division will run from February 19th to February 21st, and will be available to Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One and PC players. Additionally, Xbox One players can avail of a jump-start and can play the game a day early through an exclusive 24-hour early access on February 18th, although players across the board can pre-load the beta on any platform starting February 16th.
The update will be around 1.6 GB. For returning players who’ve tried the closed beta, Ubisoft is offering a bunch of new incentives, including a completely new story mission. Furthermore, all participants of the open beta will be able to unlock a special in-game reward if they feel that The Division is worth buying.
Players will be able to do a range of activities in the open beta, such as play solo or co-op, customise their character, and enter the Dark Zone.
Additionally, Ubisoft has taken care of many of the cheating holes found on the PC closed beta, and promise that everything should be spotless come launching day next month.
Tom Clancy’s The Division was announced in E3 2013 via Ubisoft’s press conference. Players will take the role of a highly-trained agent of the Strategic Homeland Division (also known as the eponymous The Division for short) whose goal is to save what little remains of their once peaceful community. Agents will face not only a smallpox pandemic and various hyper-violent factions (Rioters, Rikers Island escapees, Cleaners, and the Last Man Battalion) all with agendas of their own, but even a worldwide conspiracy as they struggle to bring peace back to a New York that is not longer what it used to be.
Ubisoft has released a brand-new trailer that goes through the factions that are going to be encountered in-game. Check it out below:
Tom Clancy’s The Division is set for a full launch on March 8, on Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One and PC.
