New Trailer for Tekken 7: Fated Retribution Reveals New Features
Bandai Namco Japan has just released a brand-new trailer for the upcoming update to the latest Tekken game: Tekken 7: Fated Retribution!
The trailer was unveiled today through a tweet by game director Katsuhiro Harada and is six-minutes long, packed to the brim with new content that’ll be available to players with the Fated Retribution update.
Tekken 7: Fated Retribution will introduce a new Rage Attack system, giving players more options when it comes to choosing how they want to spend rage. Rage Attacks look like they’re going to be character-specific combo-enders that deal more damage at the cost of rage. Meanwhile, Rage Arts will now deal damage in proportion to how much health your character has left: the lesser health you have, the higher damage you inflict. Additionally, some characters might be getting new Rage Arts, as Dragunov and Devil Jin both (awesomely) demonstrate.
We also get a ton of new info on Street Fighter guest Akuma, whose gameplay mechanics have been mostly mysterious up until today. From what we can gather, Akuma is capable of teleporting, and can throw opponents and shoot fireballs mid-jump. He also boasts a new feature unique to him: an EX meter with two bars.
Along with Tekken-net getting upgrades, a new Friend Match feature is also going to be introduced. Friend Match will let players send Tekken-net requests to others, which will enable them to send out player-specific match invitations. Ranks and customizations from Tekken 7 will also get carried over to the update.
Customization-wise, the trailer offers a sneak-peek of some new ones: from skull-inspired face paint to…scuba gear and floating goldfish with halos, because this is still Tekken.
Earlier today, Bandai Namco Japan also uncovered images of returning characters’ brand new default costumes. We get to see completely new outfits for Steve Fox, Devil Jin, Hwoarang, Paul Phoenix and resident robot Alisa Bosconovitch to go with Fated Retribution’s shiny new graphical updates.
Location tests for Tekken 7: Fated Retribution start on February 12th and will go on until February 14th at select Japanese arcades: Namco Sugamo in Tokyo, Round One Stadium Sennichimae in Osaka and at Namco’s Hakata Bus Terminal in Fukuoka.
