Bow down to the queen! That’s right! After long, grueling months of waiting, mainers of the classic Irish assassin and Tekken diehards in general can tick off one veteran from their “Wanted Characters” list, because Nina Williams has officially entered the foray. Was there ever any doubt, though?
The announcement was made on the RedBull E-Sports Twitch channel, alongside news that Tekken 7: Fated Retribution will be in EVO 2016’s main game line-up.
The trailer shows off Nina’s deadly, execution-heavy moves as she pulverizes poor Bryan across and over the war-torn Twilight Conflict stage. In what may be an homage to Beatrix Kiddo from Kill Bill, Nina throws away her signature purple camo jumpsuit for a wedding dress, inspiring echoes of “Why?” and “What?” across the Tekken community. Who is the lucky man? Was she actually getting married or is she simply undercover?
We’ll probably get our answers when we get the full game; although we have no solid console release date yet, we do know that Tekken 7 is going to make it to the PlayStation 4. Regardless of the reason, the grenade and gun holsters do wonders to an already badass look. And while we didn’t get a glimpse of a lot of new moves based on the trailer alone, save for an extension and a new SS cancel, Nina still looks like a force to be reckoned with.
Tekken 7‘s last character reveal was made at the end of the global Tekken tourney King of Iron Fist Tournament 2015, through a trailer announcing not only an update to Tekken 7 called Fated Retribution, but the addition of Akuma from Street Fighter.
Location tests for Tekken 7: Fated Retribution start on February 12th and will go on until February 14th at select Japanese arcades: Namco Sugamo in Tokyo, Round One Stadium Sennichimae in Osaka and at Namco’s Hakata Bus Terminal in Fukuoka.
