Heroes of the Storm Patch: It’s Magic Time! Li-Ming Hero Details
Blizzard is no stranger to nostalgic experiences with them usually handing out the old stuff, it’s about time we get into some of the new. Heroes of the Storm just released its new hero spotlight featuring Li-Ming: The self-exiling, demon-disintegrating, orb-summoning wizard from Caldeum. She is now available on the Public Test Realm (PTR) until February 1 and is set to be released on the game’s next major patch.
Li-Ming’s concept as a wizard is quite transparent to what she is meant to be; a glass cannon. Armed with a variety of familiar skills you used in Diablo 3 (Disintegrate anyone?), she wreaks havoc in the battlefield. Her kit offers a unique playstyle due to one of her basic abilities: Teleport. She might not be able to withstand deadly blows from the likes of Nova or Illidan, but she compensates with a lot of mobility and hard hitting damage.
Unlike most glass cannons where you are almost immobile, Teleport has a very short cooldown; allowing you to spam it every few seconds. This allows you to get in and out of combat with relative ease. Her main damaging abilities; Magic Missiles and Arcane Orb, dish out tonnes of damage but can be easily dodged with the right mechanical skill. Magic Missiles have a unique pathing which can allow you to hit targets from unusual places. Arcane Orb deals heavy damage as it gets further, but travels slowly. Blink once and she might slay you, blink twice and you will be faced with the shattering grey screen. Positioning will be of utmost importance when facing Li-Ming in the battlefield.
Li-Ming’s awesome heroic abilities are of course Disintegrate and Wave of Force. Most of you may already know its basic concept, but for the curious, here are some details:
- Disintegrate fires a beam of pure arcane energy in a long range. It deals continuous damage to the enemies caught within the beam. To add another perk for its “awesomeness” you can redirect it to any direction you like for the duration of the skill.
- Wave of Force on the other hand is a skill that lets you displace your enemies, preventing them from executing combos or channeling spells (the damage is just a bonus).
But what about her trait? That’s what her kit is almost all about. Critical mass offers a lot of flexibility due to the cooldown reset on your abilities once you secure a kill, allowing you to continue dealing damage from afar (or if you like to live dangerously, the other way around) hero, after hero. Utilising this trait to its maximum potential will definitely put you at an advantage.
